An impactful solution that brings the art of the global patient narrative to the science behind patient-centered drug development.
Our Approach
Diverse & Inclusive
For insights to be actionable and globally impactful it is vital to ensure that participants are representative across all dimensions of diversity. We work with real world patients and care-partners, who are navigating the complexities of their health journey while trying to get a PhD in medical jargon.
Collaborative
We believe in the power of collaboration and partnership to drive meaningful engagement and ensure successful work that supports project, business and team needs. We strive to provide a pathway to embed actionable patient/care-partner feedback into clinical drug development without adding burden to study teams.
Flexible
Our work is designed to be agile and flexible to meet your needs. Whether considering online surveys, in-depth qualitative interviews, or panel discussions we can work with your team to ensure a fit for purpose means of adding value to your project.
“If you spoke another language and you needed to see a doctor, you’d be provided with a translator - but if it’s the science you don’t understand there’s no one there to translate for you, so you go away simply not knowing what’s been said.”
Rebecca Skloot “The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks”

About Me:
Ariel Rosen, Founder, The Human Lens
With a background in patient-focused research and a Masters degree in Clinical Neuropsychology, I have more than 20 years of experience working across roles in the pharmaceutical industry, including at the site level with a number of academic medical centers, before transitioning into a focus on clinical trial recruitment and retention and site optimization. For the last 10 years, my focus has been on understanding the patient and care-partner experience with a primary goal of reducing their burden of participation and ensuring equitable access to trials.
I have extensive experience across therapeutic areas and indications, including: pediatric/adolescent, rare disease, oncology, CNS, women’s health and vaccines.
I look forward to connecting with you and partnering to bring the voice of the patient to the forefront of drug development by uncovering actionable insights that motivate and resonate with globally diverse patient communities.

FAQ
-
First things first, patient (and care-partner) insights is a collaborative process which begins with an introductory call or email to understand how we can best support your study and business needs. Initial discussions will include an overview of our services, as well as understanding your current project or pipeline needs.
-
The Human Lens provides flexible, bespoke insights services with varied methodologies to meet your needs. This includes, but is not limited to: in-depth interviews, panel interviews/discussions, qualitative online survey, repeat engagement (alternative to traditional participant panel), ICF review, and patient-centered materials review. We engage with patients, care-partners, legally authorized representative, KOLs, HCPs, site staff and any key stakeholders who can speak to the lived experiences of patients and their families.
-
The most important factor is what is the business need driving the need for insights (protocol design, recruitment, consent, retention). Insights can be conducted at any time during clinical drug development. We strongly recommend that study specific insights begin as part of an early engagement strategy. Insights work is highly dynamic and flexible, therefore, it can be conducted at the study level, compound level or indication level depending on your needs.
-
Timelines depend on the project, and will take into consideration indication, participant cohort, country landscape, methodology and scope. We will work with your team to establish how insights can best align with your project and business needs. Our bespoke service offering allows us to develop a strategy and methodology to meet your timeline.

Insights can be conducted in any country or language. For in-depth global interviews, highly experienced local language moderators will ensure that interviews prioritize participant rapport and cultural competence, not only data collection.
